When Jay Jay French, guitarist and founding member of Twisted Sister, started the Pinkburst Project to raise awareness and support for Uveitis, the leading cause of blindness among American girls, he didn’t want to have just another cookie-cutter fund-raiser. He wanted to do “something that was different and really exciting, something never done before (and probably never again) and something that could hopefully raise a lot of money, if done right, at auction.” And he succeeded beyond his dreams!
In an unprecedented burst of cooperation, Jay Jay got some of the top guitar manufacturers to provide custom designed one-of-a kind editions of their most famous models, all based on the original Pinkblush guitar he played with Twisted Sister. The finished products, a dozen unique guitars with a great story behind them, were auctioned by Skinner Auctioneers & Appraisers on May 1, 2011.
