Duff McKagan: Loyal Precision Bass™ Player
The first instrument Duff McKagan purchased with the advance from his initial record contract was a Fender Precision Bass™. He’s been playing one ever since.
As a member of Guns N’ Roses, Duff was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
The debut GNR album, Appetite for Destruction, which featured Duff McKagan on bass, was ranked #27 in Rolling Stone magazine’s original 100 Best Albums of the Eighties list.
Though not the main focus of GNR on stage, Duff’s bass lines have been the foundation of the band’s intense sound. His ability to support and complement their often extreme lead guitar and vocals is a key to their success.
You can catch a glimpse of Duff playing his real “Skull” Precision Bass™ in the video below of Guns N’ Roses in a live performance of the classic opening track on their first album, “Welcome to the Jungle.”
