Last week we began a series about the greatest rock guitarists of all time based on a list put together by Rolling Stone magazine. When we revisited that list for this week’s article, we were distracted by a section on the page with links to other top-100 lists they had created about the greatest singers, albums, and other categories. We then wondered if any of the greatest guitarists were also included on the list for greatest singers.
We quickly discovered that B.B. King is on both lists (we will write about him some other time), but then we started feeling as if we were paying too much attention to Rolling Stone and perhaps ignoring the opinions of other music-related magazines. So, that reminded us of a comment we heard on satellite radio about MOJO and Q magazines, which led us to MOJO‘s home page, where we clicked a link to this feature about George Harrison with great video clips.
We have not yet had time to watch this film, which premiered in two parts on October 5-6, but the preview clip above is enticing and, if it is anywhere near as good as Scorsese’s film about Bob Dylan (trailer below), we are sure it will be worth the time to watch it straight through.
FYI, George Harrison is ranked #21 on Rolling Stone’s list.
