The concept behind the creation of AXE HEAVEN® and our collectible miniature musical instruments is to connect with the moments in our lives that had real meaning and that bring us the fondest memories of days gone by. It’s about the emotional link to the most passionate days of our youth. It’s about the soundtrack that played while we played. It’s about the people with whom we shared those moments. And most of all, it’s about the beautiful guitars and talented artists who used them to create the irresistible rhythms and satisfying sounds that reached deep into our souls, as well as the pleasure center of our minds, and which made us feel invincible and immortal, and which made us dance and boogie and shake and rattle and roll all night long until we dropped from exhaustion (and being way too wasted).

More than any other activity we can think of, rock music has brought huge numbers of people together in a positive collective consciousness – think of Monterrey, Woodstock, Watkins Glen, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Ozzfest, Reading, Lilith Fair, Warped, Coachella, Bonnaroo, South by Southwest and just about any concert you’ve ever attended or any time you and a bunch of friends were listening to the latest and greatest song ever recorded – and it moved us in so many ways: physically, emotionally, spiritually, and sexually.

Oh what memories! And where there are memories, there’s memorabilia to mark the occasion. This year, the Hard Rock Cafe is taking some of the most treasured memorabilia from the world of rock music on tour around the country to commemorate its 40th anniversary. The tour began in NYC in April (see video clip below to catch a glimpse of a few items in the collection on tour) and runs through the middle of August.

If you are unable to catch the tour, you can always check out the Hard Rock Cafe’s online collection of memorabilia, which is displayed via a very cool custom interactive application that lets you sort through 1610 famous items (out of their world’s largest collection of over 60,000 classic pieces of rock history).
